II ROLL CALL Present nerd Jack Mrs. Sandra Kavanaugh Mr. James Peotter Mrs. Betty Wallin III ITEMIS OF &USIIJESS Absent tai yor Wayne Kotula Dr. Michael E.mmick Lxcused) Mr. Hurl Estes Hr. Frank Peterson (arrived 6:45 P.M.) The purpose of the meeting was for the canvass of election returns, to certify election results and make appointments to the Mental Health Board and Health Resources Advisory Council. Peotter read the names presented of the people who voted challenged ballots who had been purged from the registration rolls or not eligible to vote in Borough elections and are not ,re eptable. Mrs. Wallin moved that the names presented of the people who voted challenged ballots who had been purged from the registration rolls or not eligible to vote in Borough elections be rejected. Seconded by Mrs. Kavanaugh. Motion passed by unanimous roll call vote. Mr. Peotter read the names presentod of the people who voted absentee ballots who had been purged from the registration rolls and are not acceptable. Mrs. Kavanaugh moved that the names presented of the people who voted absentee ballots who had been purged from the registration rolls in the Borough election be rejected. Seconded by Mrs. Wallin. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. Mr. Peotter read the names of the people who voted challenged ballots ::nd were found to be acceptable. Mrs. Wallin moved that the names read be accepted as having cast valid ballots. Seconded by Mrs. Kavanaugh. Motion carried by unanimous roll ca 11 Vote. Mrs. Wallin moved to accept the Old Harbor absentee ballots, eliminating the one that was improperly marked. Seconded by Mrs. Kavanaugh. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. Three Borough ballots were found in the City election boxes; the City Clerk certified that these were valid. Mrs. Wallin moved to accept the three ballots received from the City, which had been placed in the City election boxes. Seconded by Mrs. Kavanaugh. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. The absentee and challenged ballot envelopes were opened and counted by the members of the Assembly. Mr. Peotter read Resolution No. 77 -54 -R ratifying and confirming the results of the October 4, 1977 general election. Mrs. Wallin moved to adopt Resolution No. 77 -54 -R Seconded by Mrs. Kavanaugh. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. The Clerk administered the Oath of Office to the newley elected official Logtn and ^illi G. Bill Idilliams for ohE -year uncxpirtd' Assembly terms; James E. Peotter and Edward B. Jack for three - year Assembly terms; and Betty J. Wallin for Borough Mayor. Mayor Wallin recommended the following appointments to the Mental Health Board: George Starr - Bresette, American Indian; Tony Reft, Aleut; Duncan Hunter, non - minority. Mrs.Kavanaugh moved to accept and ratify the appointments. Seconded by Mr. Peterson. In order to meet that requirement, Mayor 'dallin recommended the appointment of Pat Jacobson. Mrs. Kavnaugh moved to accept and ratify the appointment. Seconded by Mr. Peterson. Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. IV ADJOURNMENT The special meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
