The meeting was called to order at 10:20 A.td. by Presiding Officer Betty Spring-
hill in the Borough Offices, Roman 113, Donnelley- Atchison Building, Kodiak,
Alaska.
II ROLL CALL
Also present: Robert E. Grafe, C1erk-Treaasuurrer.
III PURPOSE OF MEETING - Introduction of Ordinance 70 -8-0, Autttorizatiat of Special
Election on November 3, 1970 - The Borough Chairman read the ordinance by title
only. Mr. Grafe informed the Assembly that this ordinance was to schedule the
Borough election with the general election. The Alaska Statutes gives the
Assembly the authority to do this. The reasoning for doing this is that it would
cut election expenses and participation from the public would be much greater
at the polls. Mr. Grafe read the section in the Alaska Statutes that gave the
Assembly the authority to do this. Mrs. Springhill stated that she felt it might
good idea for the City to do this, also.
Mr. Sutliff moved to approve Ordinance 70-8 -0 by first reading only, seconded by
Hr. Jackson. Mr. Naughton called for the question, and by roll call vote, the
motion carried unanimously.
