A. VFW Request for Additional Land: Jr. Berg had requested this meeting due to the
fact that the letter of non-objection from KANA was not forthcoming and he wanted
to have the Assembly's approval to continue with the program underway at the
VFt? Site without further delay. Mr. Berg stated that he had tried to contact the
Preside.%t of KANA, bn a I::- d b . .nlec,c: sful. However, he had received a message
sayinc; that the native lands were not for barter and that due to the fact that
KANA presently had no lawyer this would have to be delayed until a lawyer was
availably:. It was further noted that this is only a lease on the land for a
55 -year period and that this is a community project that would be open to the
public. The additional 60- acres is for all practical purposes valueless to anyone
else but is needed by the Vital mainly for safety factor. The Assembly approval is
needed prior to having the survey work done that the State requires. The Statutes
were checked in regards to the period which la;:sd can be leased.
Hr. Barr moved that the Borough Assembly rescind the action taken with regard to
the VE'CI request insofar as eliminating the requirement of the - ietter of non -
ebie- E n from the Native association, seconded - 5y Ar. Naughton. The motion passed
by 2 - 1.0 1 roll call vote as follows: Mr. Barr - YES; Mr. Naughton - NO Mr.
