last meeting, Seconded by Nssemtiyman White Passed unanimously.
Upon reading the minutes of Ii P Commission of Fen- 10 and Feb, 17, a lengthy

discussion of the Batanof Subdivision was held,
Assemblyman Whit o moved that the Assembly take rhe stand that the main body of Lilly Lake
be recognized for the purpose of a portion of Public Airport and it should be retained
for use contiguous to the airport and that we do not recognize the claimed ownership
of bordering individuals Seconded by Assemblyman Brechan, Passed unanimously.
Assemblyman White moved that the Chairman be authorized to draw up a Lands Management
Agreement with the Division of Lands to present to the Assembly, amended to request
the Division of Lands acquire additional contractual help to survey the land
requested for disposal in the Kodiak area in early 1965, Seconded by Assemblyman Pace
and passed unanimously,
During the general discussion of the budget, it was tJ general concensus of opinion
that a special meeting be held to discuss this ont item,
Chairman Powell exp!ained to the Assemblymen that he would be out of town from Feb. 19
thru the 25th,
Assemblyman White suggested that a meeting not he held on the 25th as this was the night
the City Council mee'i:s
Chairman Powell told the Assembly that he had hired two people at a monthly cost of
$1,100 to replace Howard Fremlin lamer Borough Assessor who resigned at a monthly
salary of $1,000,
Assemblymen White and Brechan stated this was an increase of $1,100 as the new employ s
formerly worked for Jahn Cole who has a $2,500 monthly on to complete the tax r 1.
Assemblyman Paoe stated this could not 1:e in:rease of more than $100 as last month's
total outlay was $3,,t.00 and this month's would be 0,600,
Chairman Powell reviewed the tax assesment picature pointing out that John Cole was hired
for $17,500 to assess the real property in the ald school district, Then it was found out
that state law requires assessment of ail real and personal property in the entire Borough
including the en -,Ire Kodiak fslann and imme6iate iAands,

To complete this portion of the assessment another contract for $2,500 monthly was
signed with Cole in December to terminate June 1. Assemblyman "White and Brechan
disagreed with this as they felt the outlying areas would not return enough tax
to pay for this assessing.
Chairman Powell stated that he had no alternative but to exercise his responsibility
as Chairman and insure completion of the tax roll as the law requires that tax statements
be in the mail prior to April. 10.
Assemblyman Pace moved that the Chairman confront John Cole to
and that the two arrive at a cost of completing the Assessment
number of people necessary, Cole's salary, travel and per diem
back at the next regular meeting,
The motion died for lack of a second.,
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
