The presiding Officer, Eldon Lester, called the meeting to order at
1:05 [ .m.
Those present were Charles Powell,E_i_don Lester, Rus_ell Wright,
Harold Alexander, and Morris Burnham. -
Chairman Powell explained that the zpurpose of the meeting was to
discuss the situation of the water wells in the Mission Road area which
ha :Je gone dry or been :.ontaminated by salt :rater. He stated tat the
owners of these wells have _-,one to the Red Cross for assistan e. In a
telephone conversati n John :sates of the Anchorage Civil 'Defense
Chairman Dowell was informed that the Borough would recei,e $5,000 to
lay a water Line. A temporary line (e n ..uding laterals and lines to
the hones) - old ost $6,000; a peranent 8" lire to the Loran Station
would cost {350,000, approximately :10,000 per 1i,Jing unit. Rural Pe-
de Corp. :s able to cover only immediate need it tie minimum
