APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR DISCRETIONARY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT FUNDS UNDER THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT
OF 1974 AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is eligible for Com-
munity Development Block Grant funds under the Housing and Com-
munity Development Act of 1974, as amended, and,
WHEREAS, a preapplication was filed by the Borough in
accordance with Housing and Urban Development Department regula-
tions for purposes of the rating process for determination of
eligibility for full application in 1977, and,
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough's eligibility was
determined in competition with other communities of the State
based upon criteria categories including percent of poverty extent
of poverty, percentage of substandard housing and extent of su5-
standard housing based upon census bureau data, and,
WHEREAS, the Borough's Overall Economic Development Com-
mittee has continuously evaluated community development needs and
have periodically reported priorities of those needs to the
assembly,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the assembly of Kodiak
Island Borough authorizes the submission of an application for
community development block grant funds designating power genera-
tion facilities for Karluk and Akhiok from the priority needs
determined and the assembly urges approval of the application by
the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
