1975-42 Ratifying And Confirming The Results Of The November 4, 1975 General Election.I KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 75 -42 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 4th GENERAL ELECTION. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a General Municipal Election in the Borough on Tuesday, the 4th day of November, 1975, at which time candidates for the following office to be filled were voted on: One (1) Borough Mayor for a two -year term; Three (3) Borough Assemblymen for a three -year term; Two (2) Assemblymen for a one -year terms; Two (2) Schoolboard members for a three -year term; One (1) School Board Member for a one -year term; and Proposition No. 1 on the question of whether or not the elected municipal officials of the Borough shall be exempted from the requirements of the State's disclosure law, and; Proposition No. 2 on the question of whether or not the Borough shall adopt areawide powers to prohibit the sale and use of fireworks within the Kodiak Island Borough, and WHEREAS, the returns of said election have been delivered to and canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly: Section 1: That the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the General Municipal Election held within the Kodiak Island Borough on Tuesday, November 4, 1975, to be as follows: That ROLLYN BALL received 3 6 8 votes for the position of Borough Mayor for a two -year term; ROBERT CRAIG received 34'8 votes for that position; CHARLES DAVIDSON received /g/ votes for the Mayor's position; JAMES L. FISK, JR., received ge votes for the Mayor's position and CHARLES POWELL received 332 votes for the Mayor's position; Write -in votes were received for Paul Beaird (1) , Jo Hajdu (2) , and Norman Sutliff (1) . That no candidate received in excess of forty percent (40%) of the votes cast for his respective office, as required by Section 29.28.040 of the Alaska Statutues, Municipal Code., and another write -in for Ron Doubt. 1 7 I Therefore, a run -off election shall be held within the Kodiak Island Borough for the position of a two -year term for Borough Mayor, on November 24, 1975 , and notice of the run -off election shall be published at least five (5) days before that date, and at the election the person receiving the majority of the votes for that office shall be declared to be elected. That LESLIE ANDERSON received 64 votes for the position of three -year assemblyman; M. CLARK FULTZ received 289 votes for that position; HAL LINCOLN received 764 votes for the three -year position; ARNE 0. ROD received 454 STRATMAN received 49/ votes for that position and BETTY WALLIN received 789 Hal Lincoln votes for that position, Write -in votes were received for John Doe (1), Okey Chandler (1), Wilton T. White (2), and Mike Cathey (2) . Three to be elected. Therefore it is hereby declared that , and votes for the position; OMAR Betty Wallin Leslie Anderson have been elected to the three -year terms on the Borough Assembly. That DON BRUNNER received 44 7 votes for the position of two- year assemblyman; MURL ESTES received 56 3 votes for that position JAMES PEOTTER received 584 votes for the position; FRANK R. PETERSON received TIMOTHY WARD received 56 7 NICHOLAS PESTRIKOFF received 5,ZI 469 votes for that position and PAT POLAND received /65 votes for the position and write -in votes were received for Rolland A. Jones (1) , two to be elected There it is hereby declared that James Peotter , and Frank Peterson have been elected to the two -year terms on the Borough Assembly. That MICHAEL EMMICK received 545 votes for the position of one -year assemblyman; SANDRA KAVANAUGH received 595 votes for that position, DAN OGG received /6 votes for the one -year position; votes for that position, votes for that position; and write -ins were received for Okey Chandler (1); two to be elected. Therefore it is hereby declared that Sandra Kavanaugh and Michael Emmick have been el ected to the one -year terms on the Borough Assembly. That LOUISE COLLINS received 404 of three -year school board member, JAMES L. FISK, JR., received /g 7 votes for that position; HAZEL E. HOGAN received 393 votes for that position; JOAN JOHNSON received 50 2,, votes for the three -year position; STAN SARGENT received 5/0 votes for that position; RICHARD L. SWANK received .29 votes for that position, two to be elected. Therefore, it is hereby declared that Louise Collins and Stan Sargent have been elected to the three -year terms on the School Board. That PHIL ANDERSON received / votes for the position of one -year school board; STAN BALTZO received 578 votes for that positijon; and J. D. FULP received 552, votes for that position, one to be elected. Therefore it is hereby declared that Stan Baltzo has been elected to the one -year term on the School Board. That Proposition No. 1 on the question of whether or not the elected municipal officials of the Borough shall be exempted from the requirements of the State's disclosure law received 530 NO votes. Therefore the Kodiak Island Borough shall not be exempted from th{e States's Disclosure Law. That Proposition No. 2 on the question of whether or not the Borough shall adopt areawide povsers to prohibit the sale and use of fireworks within the Kodiak Island Borough received 5/4 votes. Therefore the Kodiak Island Borough shall not adopt areawide powers to prohibit the sale and use of fireworks within the Kodiak Island Borough. Section 2: The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of Special Run -off Election to be held within the Borough on NOVEMBER 24 , 1975 votes for the position YES votes and 8 33 YES votes and 8 33 ,N , 1975, and to perform any and all duties in connection with the certification of these results, and the swearing it of the successful candidates for office.
