RESOLUTION NUMBER 75 -5 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR HUD HOUSING &
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT 1974 DISCRETIONARY FUNDS AS
PREPARED BY THE OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is eligible for funds
under the Housing & Development Act 1974, and
WHEREAS, the funds must be applied for and such application
must be submitted in accordance with the regulations as established for
this Act, and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Overall Economic Development
Committee has prepared an application setting forth the Borough's project
as "Establishment and Upgrading of the Sanitary Land Fills in Seven
Villages" and the priorities for each village are as follows: Karluk,
Akhiok, Larsen Bay, Ouzinkie, Chiniak, Old Harbor and Port Lions.
This project is one that has been considered a high priority project by the
Village Councils, the Kodiak Island Borough School District and various
departments of the State Health Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Assembly of the
Kodiak Island Borough is in complete agreement with the proposed project,
lends full support and would emphasize the need for this project. In order
to protect the health and welfare of the residents in the various locations,
the Assembly agrees with the priority of this proposal and urges approval
of this application by Housing and Urban Development.
