1974-48 Ratifying And Confirming The Results Of The October 1st General Election.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 74 -48 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE OCTOBER 1ST GENERAL ELECTION. WHEREAS, Pursuant of Law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a General Municipal Election in the Borough on Tuesday, the 1st day of October, 1974, at which time candidates for the following offices to be filled were voted on: One (1) Borough Assemblyman for a three -year term; and one (1) Borough Assemblyman for a two -year term; and one (1) Borough Assemblyman for a one -year term; and one School Board Member for a three -year term, and, WHEREAS, the returns of said election have been delivered to and canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly: Section 1: That the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the General Municipal Election held within the Kodiak Island Borough on Tuesday, October 1st, 1974, to be as follows: That OKEY C. CHANDLER received 91 votes for the position of Borough Assemblyman for the three -year term; GEORGE LINDHOLM recieved 35 votes for that position; NICHOLAS PESTRIKOFF received 142 votes for that position; and HAROLD SARGENT received 101 votes for that position; and MARK WHITE recieved 112 votes for that position; that no candidate received in excess of forty percent (400) of the vote cast for his respective office, as required by Section 29.28.040 of the Municipal Code. Therefore, a run -off election shall be held within the Kodiak Island Borough for the position of a three -year term for the Borough Assembly, on Tuesday, October 22, 1974, and notice of the run -off election shall be published at least five (5) days before that date, and at election the person receiving the majority vote for that office shall be declared to be elected. PAGE ONE, RESOLUTION NO. 74 -48 -R that HAD LII)CCN ieciived 207 votes for the position of two- year term on the Borough Assembly; ALEX PANAMAROFF, JR. , received 254 votes for that position. Therefore it is hereby declared that ALEX PANAMAROFF, JR. has been elected to the two -year term on the Borough Assembly. That LOUIS G. SCHNEIDER received 99 votes for the position of one -year term on the Borough Assembly; MARVIN LOVE received 24 votes for that position, ROLAND MCBRIDE received 31 votes for that position; FRED GAFFNEY received 74 votes for that position, SVEN HAAKANSON received 234 votes for that position. JESSIE REEVES and BOB BLACK each received one vote. Therefore it is hereby declared that SVEN HAAKANSON has been elected to the two -year term on the Borough Assembly. That JOHN EUFEMIO received 317 votes for the position of School Board Member; JANET HEITMAN received 47 votes for that position; JOHN PUGH received 10 votes for that position; STAN SARGENT received 82 votes for that position, JACK LECHNER received 154 votes for that position, FRANCES RUTLEDGE recieved 169 votes for that position; BETTY WALLIN received 210 votes for that position; that no candidate received in excess of forty percent (40%) of the vote cast for his respective office, as required by Section 29.28.040 of the Municipal Code. Therefore, a run -off election shall be held. Section 2: The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of Special Run -off Election to be held within the Borough on Tuesday, October 22, 1974, and to perform any and all duties in connection with the certification of these results, and the swearing in of the successful candidates for office.
