A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH REQUEST-
ING THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS TO MAINTAIN
CERTAIN ROADS IN THE RUSSIAN CREEK- BELLS FLATS AREA.
WHEREAS, settlement patterns in Alaska since state-
hood have been people followed by roads followed by bus trans-
portation for school children, and
WHEREAS, the population of Bell's Flats- Russian
Creek area is continuing to grow and there exists a definite
need for all weather maintained roads, and
WHEREAS, existing roads could be improved by a min-
imum expenditure to meet State Department of Education standards
for bus transportation, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, by this
resolution, request the Commissioner of the Department of High -
ways, State of Alaska, to upgrade and maintain the following
roads in the Bells Flats- Russian Creek area:
South Russian Creek Road from its intersection with the
Chiniak Highway, and Panamaroff Creek Drive from junction
with South Russian Creek Road to the intersection of Pan-
amaroff Creek Drive and the Chiniak Highway, a distance of
approx. 1.6 miles, and
Sargent Creek Road from intersection with the Chiniak High-
way to Middle Bay Drive; thence Middle Bay Drive to Uyak
Drive; thence Uyak Drive to Uganik Drive; thence Uganik
Drive to Sargent Creek Road; thence Sargent Creek Road
returning to said intersection with the Chiniak Highway,
a distance of approximately 1.2 miles.
