1974-18 Relating To The Naming Of A Mountain In The Port Lions Area.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
ASSEMBLY RELATING TO THE NAMING OF A MOUNTAIN IN THE
PORT LIONS AREA.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough wishes to
show recognization to one CARL OSCAR ELLISON, JR., for
his role in the development of the Community of Port
Lions, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ellison was the president of the
Village Council of the Village of Afognak during the
time of the 1964 Tidal Wave, and
WHEREAS, it was through his leadership and the
cooperation of the Lions Club that the present site for
the new city was selected, and Mr. Ellison was instrumental
in the planning for the growth of that new community, and
WHEREAS an application has been made for the
name "ELLISON MOUNTAIN" to be given to the presently
unnamed mountain lying approximately two and one -half miles
north of the City of Port Lions, Alaska, at the following
location:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Assembly of
the Kodiak Island Borough that support of this application
be given. The Assembly urges that approval for the name
"ELLISON MOUNTAIN" be given and that the mountain henceforth
be so called.
