KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. 95 -10
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PUBLIC BROADCASTING
WHEREAS, public broadcasting is a necessity to Alaskans residing in the more rural
areas of the state; and
WHEREAS, public broadcasting is the only source of local broadcast news, public
affairs programming, providing services during emergencies, and providing
programming for the Native American, Hispanic, and Filipino communities; and
WHEREAS, loss of funding would result in a reduction in local news coverage; and
WHEREAS, loss of funding would result in a loss of service to villages; and
WHEREAS, public broadcasting is the main source for local news to be broadcast
state -wide;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT the Governor and the Alaska State Legislators are urged to maintain
funding for public broadcasting.
