A RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA
TO APPOINT A KODIAK REPRESENTATIVE TO THE
ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE OIL SPILL RECOVERY INSTITUTE (OSRI)

WHEREAS, the governing body of the Kodiak Island Borough is invited to submit
nominations of individuals from the community interested in serving a
two -year term on the Advisory Board for the Oil Spill Recovery Institute
(OSRI); and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough was one of the communities in Alaska
affected by the EXXON VALDEZ oil spill; and
WHEREAS, a Kodiak representative is knowledgeable about fisheries, local industries,
marine environment, wildlife, public health, safety, and education; and
WHEREAS, one of the four individuals serving as community representatives on the
OSRI Board is a Kodiak resident eligible for re- nomination;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Governor Rickel is urged to re- nominate Suzanne Hancock to the Oil Spill
Recovery Institute Advisory Board for a two -year term to assure quality
input from an area in Alaska affected by an oil spill.
Section 2: The Secretary of Commerce is urged to designate Suzanne Hancock as
a final appointment of one of the four individuals from communities
impacted by the spill.
