1994-15 Increasing the Rental Rate for Office Space in the Kodiak Island Borough Building.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 94 -15 Introduced by: Mayor Selby Requested by: Mayor Selby Drafted by: Resource Manager Introduced: 04/07/94 Amended: 04/07/94 Adopted: 04/07/94 A RESOLUTION INCREASING THE RENTAL RATE FOR OFFICE SPACE IN THE BOROUGH BUILDING WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is the owner of all improvements on Lot 5, U.S. Survey 2538A, including the structure known affectionately as the Borough Building; and WHEREAS, this former dormitory building has been converted into office space of which 77 percent is used as office space and the remaining space is common area; and WHEREAS, the rental rate charged tenants for office space in the Borough Building has not been adjusted for at least ten (10) years; and WHEREAS, the expense to operate and maintain the Borough building is constantly increasing with the present break even cost at $1.25 per square foot; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly desires to manage the office complex as a self- sustaining enterprise with the goal of full occupancy but providing the available space to qualified occupants, giving first priority to school, mental health, and government use. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH THAT: Section 1: The borough mayor is authorized to adjust the rental rate of office space in the Borough Building from $1.00 to $1.10 per square foot per month for fiscal year 1995, based on the following square footage figures: KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT - 4,439 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH - 8,802 CITY OF KODIAK - 3,447 KMXT -1,307 STATE OF ALASKA C &RA - 236 Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska Resolution No. 94 -15 Page 1 of 2 Section 2: All other provisions of the leases remain as in effect.
