A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS THAT EXCEED
THE LIMIT OF THE MAYOR'S AUTHORITY
FOR THE ACQUISITION OF A COLOR PLOTTER
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough, through its computer mapping capability, has
the capacity to produce and create for assembly, staff and the public
computer generated maps; and
WHEREAS, the use of these maps to better describe and portrait a situation provides
decision makers with one of the tools needed to make informed
decisions; and
WHEREAS, with the borough's present plotting (map- making) technology, the
production of a map does not allow the drafting technician the ability to
work proficiently while a map is being plotted; and
WHEREAS,

the present plotter was acquired free of charge while performing work
during the Exxon Valdez oil spill; and
the new plotter will improve the speed, quality and versatility of borough
products, reducing plotting time and making map products less
expensive; and
the new plotter will allow the drafting technician the ability to continue
to input and manipulate data simultaneously as maps are being
generated, increasing work productivity; and
WHEREAS, as required, two bids have been received to acquire a new plotter;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:

Section 1: In accordance with Kodiak Island Borough Code 3.16.020, the mayor is
authorized to expend no more than $7,966.00 for the purchase of a
Hewlett Packard Design Jet 650C color plotter from the company of
Lewis and Lewis as low bidder.
