1994-09 Supporting Section 1 of the Senate Joint Resolution No. 39 Proposing Amendments to the Constitution of the State of Alaska Relating to the Individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms.4 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 94 -09 Introduced by: Assemblymember Austerman Requested by: Assemblymember Austerman Drafted by: Assemblymember Austerman Withdrawn: 02/17/94 Introduced: 03/03/94 Failed: 03/03/94 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SECTION 1 OF THE SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 39 PROPOSING AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF ALASKA RELATING TO THE INDIVIDUAL RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS WHEREAS, the first session of the Eighteenth Legislature for the State of Alaska introduced Senate Joint Resolution No. 1 and Senate Joint Resolution No. 34 amending the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to the individual right to keep and bear arils; and WHEREAS, the Eighteenth Legislature have,consolidated the above Joint Resolutions into Senate Joint Resolution No. 39 amending the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to t$ individual right to keep and bear arms; and WHEREAS, this amendment will change the Constitution to state that the individual right to keep and bea arms shall not be denied or infringed on by the State or a political s bdivision of the State; and WHEREAS, it is the right of�tfie people to keep and bear arms without intrusion of the governmeryt; NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1,7 RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH THAT: Section 1: Article/1, sec. 19, Constitution of the State of Alaska is amended to read: S TION 19. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. A well - regulated ilitia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the p eople to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The individual right jo keep and bear arms shall not be denied or infringed by the State or a political subdivision of the State.
