A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING PERSONS WHO WILL SERVE
AS ACTING MAYOR DURING THE TEMPORARY ABSENCE
OR DISABILITY OF THE MAYOR
WHEREAS, the mayor has previously designated the director of the community
development department to serve as acting mayor during the mayor's
absence or disability; and
WHEREAS, at times both the mayor and the director of the community development
department are absent from the borough at the same time; and
WHEREAS, during such joint absences, a need for action by the borough mayor may
arise; and
WHEREAS, a clear procedure for administration needs to be in place in the event of
an emergency or other pressing issue; and
WHEREAS, AS 29.20.260 and KIBC 2.20.040 provide that the mayor shall
designate persons to act as mayor during the mayor's temporary
absence or disability, with the approval of the assembly; and
WHEREAS, the mayor wishes to appoint the persons described below to serve during
his temporary absence or disability, and the assembly wishes to approve
said appointments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Section 1: The director of the community development department shall act as
mayor during the mayor's temporary absence from the borough or during
the mayor's temporary disability.

Section 2: If the borough mayor and the director of the community development
department are simultaneously temporarily disabled and /or temporarily
absent from the borough, the borough assessor shall serve as acting
mayor.
