A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DEED TRANSFERRING
PETERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough School District and the Kodiak Island Borough
have been attempting to attain title to the Peterson Elementary School
for several years; and
WHEREAS, the United States Government has now agreed to transfer the title to
Peterson Elementary School and provide $3.7 million toward renovation
and upgrades of the facility; and
WHEREAS, the United States Coast Guard has signed the use permit allowing the
Kodiak Island Borough to use the school site as long as the facility is
used as a school;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Section 1: The Kodiak Island Borough accepts the Quitclaim Deed transferring the
school facilities known as Peterson Elementary School and movable
school equipment contained therein.
Section 2: The nine assurances attached to the deed are agreed to.
Section 3: The mayor of the Kodiak Island Borough be designated to sign the
Quitclaim Deed, Acceptance, and Assurances on behalf of and as the act
of the Kodiak Island Borough.
Section 4: Quitclaim Deed language is subject to the Kodiak Island Borough
attorney's approval.
