A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF A CONSOLIDATION PETITION
WHEREAS, the best interests of the residents of the community in efficient
government will be served by consolidating the Kodiak Island Borough
and the City of Kodiak into a single unit of home rule government; and
WHEREAS, "consolidation" means dissolution of two or more municipalities and their
incorporation as a new municipality; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is authorized by law to petition the Local
Boundary Commission to consolidate the Kodiak Island Borough and the
City of Kodiak;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Section 1: The staff of the Kodiak Island Borough is directed to prepare a petition
for consolidation of the Kodiak Island Borough and the City of Kodiak for
presentation to the Local Boundary Commission under regulations
adopted by the commission.
Section 2: The petition shall be submitted to the borough assembly for approval
prior to presentation.
