A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CONSOLIDATION CHART COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the best interests of the residents of the community in efficient
government will be served by consolidating e Kodiak Island Borough
and the City of Kodiak into a single unit of ome rule government; and
WHEREAS, "consolidation" means dissolution of tw or more municipalities and their
incorporation as a new municipality; .nd
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is au orized by law to petition the Local
Boundary Commission to conso ' • ate the Kodiak Island Borough and the
City of Kodiak; and
WHEREAS, the Local Boundary Comm ' -lion has directed the inclusion of a proposed
home rule charter with . petition for consolidation; and
WHEREAS, to meet the diverse ' eeds and interests to the residents of the Kodiak
Island Borough an r the City of Kodiak, a charter commission should be
formed of perso rom the various areas within the proposed boundaries
of the consolid - ed municipality;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Section 1: A ho , : rule charter shall be developed which will be included with the
pet on to the Local Boundary Commission for the consolidation of the
K +iak Island Borough and the City of Kodiak.
Section 2:
A Consolidation Charter Commission shall be formed to prepare a home
rule charter of the Kodiak Island Borough and the City of Kodiak to be
included with the petition to the Local Boundary Commission for the
consolidation of the Kodiak Island Borough and the City of Kodiak as a
single unit of Home Rule Government.

Charter Commission and specify filing deadlines and procedure for
making nominations to be conducted in the October 6, 1992 m icipal
election.
