1992-24 Authorizing the Lease of the Kodiak Island Borough Apartment Building Complex, Building "A" to Qualified Non-Profit Corporations.KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 92 -24 Introduced by: Mayor Selby Requested byAesource Manager Drafted by: Resource Manager Introduced: 06/22/92 Adopted: 06/22/92 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH APARTMENT BUILDING COMPLEX BUILDING "A" TO QUALIFIED NON - PROFIT CORPORATIONS WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough received restricted title to the apartment building complex located on Lot 5A, U.S. Survey 2538A from the State of Alaska on February 8, 1980; and WHEREAS, the restrictive nature of this deed limits the use of this property for school or other public purposes only, as well as making the above property available to Indians and non - Indians on the same terms; and WHEREAS, Apartment Building "B" is reserved for Mental Health Center purposes; and WHEREAS, Apartment Building "A" is available for lease to qualified non - profit organizations; and WHEREAS, Title 18.40.0206 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances provides for negotiating a lease with non - profit corporations at a reasonable rental rate, taking into consideration the purpose for which the real property is to be used; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly desires to manage the property as a self- sustaining enterprise and meet this goal, it is advantageous to have full occupancy by renting available spaces; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH THAT: Section 1: Leases of dwellings in the Kodiak Island Borough Apartment Rnilding Complex Building "A" to qualified non - profits will be one -year leases with five (5) automatic one -year extensions or renewals that could be terminated by either party with proper notice.
