A RESOLUTION URGING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ADOPT SENATE BILL NO.452
AMENDING SECTIONS OF ALASKA STATUTES 47
TO COVER CERTAIN REHABILITATION AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
UNDER THE MEDICAID PROGRAM
WHEREAS, substance abuse of drugs and alcohol are an increasing problem to
society, contributing to crime and social problems, and destroying
productive lives for many individuals; and
WHEREAS, chronically mentally ill adults and severely emotional disturbed persons
under the age of 21 need many different kinds of care and assistance;
and
WHEREAS, targeted case management and rehabilitation services for these
individuals can help alleviate individual and community problems and
assist clients with overcoming their disabilities and developing into
productive adults in our communities; and
WHEREAS, care for these individuals has been under funded for many years resulting
minimal care for these individuals and limited assistance to their families;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
The Alaska State Legislature is urged to adopt Senate Bill No. 452 to provide for
funding for vital services by amending sections of Alaska Statutes 47 to cover
rehabilitation and case management services for substance abusers, chronically ill
adults, and severely mentally disturbed persons under the age of 21 under the
Medicaid Program.
