A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE KODIAK STATE PARKS CITIZENS'
ADVISORY BOARD FY93 STATE BUDGET REQUEST
WHEREAS, Kodiak district state parks provide outdoor recreational opportunities for
citizens of the Kodiak Island Borough; and
WHEREAS, state parks in the Kodiak district protect natural resources for the
enjoyment, education, study, and use by the public; and
WHEREAS, World War II history unique to Kodiak and Alaska is preserved in Fort
Abercrombie State Historic Park; and
WHEREAS, camping and picnic facilities are available in Kodiak district state parks
for tourists and other visitors to Kodiak; and
WHEREAS, state parks contribute income to the economy of the Kodiak Island
Borough; and
WHEREAS, state park facilities in the Kodiak district are in need of repair and
improvements; and
WHEREAS, state funding of $200,000 is requested by the Kodiak State Parks
Citizens' Advisory Board to accomplish needed repairs and
improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:

of support shall be given by copy of this resolution to State of Alaska Governor Walter
J. Hickel; Senator Fred F. Zharoff; Representative Cliff Davidson; Senator Lloyd Jones,
Senate Resources Committee chairman; Senator Jim Duncan, Senate Finance
