RESOLUTION NO. 91-52
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION BY NEGOTIATED PURCHASE OF
PRIVATELY OWNED REAL PROPERTY FOR PUBLIC RIFLE RANGE AND
RECREATIONAL PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough supports the safe use of firearms by its
citizens; and
WHEREAS, there is a strong desire to establish a community rifle range to promote
firearm safety; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has applied for and received a grant in the amount of
$120,000 to partially purchase and make improvements to the Salonie
Creek Rifle Range; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has reached an agreement in principal with the Leisnoi
Native Corporation for the fee simple purchase of 687.92 acres of land
known as the Salonie Creek Rifle Range; and
WHEREAS, KIBC Section 18.20.020 requires Assembly approval by resolution of
land acquisition that may set out the terms and conditions and manner
of acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH:
Section 1: Authorizing the fee simple acquisition of Lot 9, U.S. Survey 2539 for
$537,500 to be paid in full at closing.

Section 2: The Borough Mayor, or his designee, is authorized to sign all necessary
paperwork to affect said purchase.
