RESOLUTION NO. 90-74
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INSTALLATION OF SCHOOL WARNING LIGHTS
AT THE MILL BAY ROAD SCHOOL CROSSWALK FOR SCHOOLS IN THE AREA
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has refused to install
school zone warning lights in the Mill Bay Road/Von Scheele/Benny
Benson Drive area for the benefit of the students attending schools
in the area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak is currently in the process
of designing the upgrade for Mill Bay Road and the school zone
warning lights should be included in the design; and
WHEREAS, a recent incident involving a young child could
have been avoided if lights had been installed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly supports the efforts by the City of Kodiak in
installing permanent school zone warning lights in the area of the
Mill Bay Road/Von Scheele Way/Benny Benson Drive crosswalk.
