RESOLUTION NO. 90-72
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF AN ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT BY THE SOUTHWEST ALASKA MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE
AND THE SOUTHWEST ALASKA REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD
WHEREAS, the Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference
(SWAMC) and the Southwest Alaska Regional Development Board (SARDB)
are seeking designation as an Economic Development District by the
Economic Development Administration; and
WHEREAS, SARDB and SWAMC seek to assist in and complement
the strategies and activities of the communities, villages, and
other organizations within Southwest Alaska that are engaged in
pursuing desired economic and business development which is
compatible with local needs and lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, the communities and villages of Southwest Alaska
believe it to be beneficial to work together as a regional entity
to achieve desired economic development;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly supports the designation of the Southwest Alaska
Municipal Conference and the Southwest Alaska Regional Development
Board as an Economic Development District.
