RESOLUTION NO. 90-30
A RESOLUTION AMENDING SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL RATES
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough, by passage of Ordinance
No. 86-34-0, assumed the powers of Solid Waste Disposal and Collection
within the City of Kodiak; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough, with the passage of Ordinance
No. 86-37-0, assumed the same powers in the area outside the cities on
Kodiak Island; and
WHEREAS, rates for solid waste collection and disposal were
established by Resolution No. 88-79-R; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering & Facilities Department has recommended
changes to the rates; and
WHEREAS, the solid waste disposal and collection budgets
effective July 1, 1990, are predicated on the revised rate schedule;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly that solid waste collection and disposal rates effective July 1,
1990, shall be:
1. Solid waste disposal fees at the landfill site:
a. Bagged residential garbage discharged from a passenger
automobile, pickup truck or a less than one yard trailer . .

b. Construction of commercial debris from a covered truck or
trailer of greater than one yard capacity $45.00 per load
C. Bagged commercial garbage discharged from a passenger
automobile, pickup truck, flatbed, or a less than one yard

d. Garbage truck of carrying capacity . . . . . $ 4.00 per yard
e. Asbestos disposal
Small Quantities: Per cubic yard increment in hauling
vehicle . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $128.50 per c.y.
Large Quantities:
Loose: 10 c.y. Dump Truck or under
. . . . . $1,286.00 plus $112.50 c.y. over 10 c.y.

of length plus cost of personnel for unloading van
and placing bags in disposal area.
Solid waste collection fees shall be: (base fee & recycling charge)
a. Weekly residential door to door collection service . . . . .

b. Residential collection from neighborhood dumpsters . . . . .

C. The charge for residential carryout service is $10.00 + $3.00 in
addition to the charge for regular residential service.
d. Senior citizen residential rates are 75% of those listed above.

The charge for commercial dumpster service for non-compactable materials
is one and one-half times the standard rate.

h. Governmental customers will be served by a private company by
direct negotiation for service. Fees will be set, billed and
collected by that Company.
3. Every residential unit will be charged for solid waste collection
services. Residential units within the City of Kodiak will be billed
by the City with their other utility bills.
