RESOLUTION NO. 90-19
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE KODIAK STATE AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING
MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION FEASIBILITY STUDY
WHEREAS, the Kodiak State Airport is operated by the
State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities
(ADOT&PF) through a long-term lease agreement with the U.S. Coast
Guard; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Aviation System Plan encourages an
increased level of local participation at state airports; and
WHEREAS, ADOT&PF has indicated an interest in the Kodiak
Island Borough establishing management and operational
responsibility for the airport terminal area; and
WHEREAS, because of the dependency on air transportation
in Alaska, airports are an essential element in the economic
development efforts of any community; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has expressed
an interest in managing the airport terminal area with the goal of
improving air transportation services in the Kodiak Island Borough
and stimulating economic development; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Airport Terminal Building Management
and Operation Feasibility Study concludes that management of the
terminal area by the Kodiak Island Borough would allow more local
control over facility improvements; and

WHEREAS, management of the terminal area would provide
an opportunity for improved marketing of the airport;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly accepts the Kodiak State Airport Terminal Building
Management and Operation Feasibility Study.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 6th DAY OF MARCH, 1990.
