RESOLUTION NO. 90-12
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE NEGOTIATED PURCHASE OF
PROPERTY FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the existing elementary school facilities in
town are at design capacity in terms of students; and
WHEREAS, population projections show a need for a new
elementary school in the near future to meet those population
increases; and
WHEREAS, the planning for a new school is a multi-year
process requiring identification of a site and design of a
structure; and
WHEREAS, the School Board and School Administration, in
planning for a new school have developed criteria and reviewed a
number of alternative sites; and
WHEREAS, the School Board has considered in conjunction
with the Borough Assembly as their top priority for school site
acquisition the following lots:
1. Lots 2 & 3, Block 7, Miller Point Alaska Subdivision;
and
2. Lots lA & 3A, Block 8, Miller Point Alaska Subdivision
1st Addn.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly, in accordance with KIBC 18.10.020, authorizes the
Mayor to negotiate for purchase, the fee simple acquisition of Lots
2 and 3, Block 7, Miller Point Alaska Subdivision and Lots 1A and
2A, Block 8, Miller Point Alaska Subdivision First Addition.
