1988-71 Ratifying and Confirming the Results of the Regular Election Held 10/04/88.By: Drafted by: Introduced: Adopted: KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 88 -71 -R Service District N1 Advisory Board (2) 3 -year terms Advisory Board (1) 2 -year term Borough Assembly Borough Clerk 10120188 10/20188 A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR ELECTION HELD OCTOBER 4, 1988 WHEREAS, pursuant to law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a Regular Election on October 4, 1988, at which time candidates for the follow- ing offices to be filled were voted on: Borough Assembly (2) 3 -year terms School Board (2) 3 -year terms Fire District N1 Advisory Board (2) 3 -year terms Monashka Bay Service District Advisory Board (2) 3 -year terms Womens Bay Service District Advisory Board (2) 3 -year terms Bay View Service District Advisory Board (2) 3 -year terms and the following questions: Proposition No. 1 "Shall Ordinance No. 88 -23 -0 which enacts financial disclosure requirements for borough officials and candidates for borough office, and exempts officials and candidates from state financial disclosure be approved ?" and: Proposition No. 2 "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough adopt a manager plan whereby a hired manager shall be the chief administrative officer of the borough as provided in AS 29.20.460 ?" Assembly: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough THAT the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declaces the results of the Regular Election held within the Kodiak Island Borough on Tuesday, October 4, 1988, to be as follows: THAT for the position of Borough Assembly for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: ALAN AUSTERMAN received 747 votes; KEN GREGG received 588 votes; JOHN A. PARKER received 621 votes; DODD SHAY received 422 votes, and there was 1 miscellaneous vote cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that ALAN AUSTERMAN and JOHN A. PARKER have been elected for three -year seats. THAT for the position of School Board Member for three -year terms the following votes were cast: SUZANNE HANCOCK received 1087 votes; and ALICE KNOWLES received 1118 votes; and, there were 13 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that SUZANNE HANCOCK and ALICE KNOWLES have been elected for three -year seats. aesolution No. 88 -71 -R Pane 1 of 2 THAT for the position of Advisory Board Members for the Bayview Road Service Area for three -year terms the following votes were cast: There were 14 miscellaneous write-in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that the two three -year seats are vacant. THAT for the position of Advisory Board Members for the Monashka Bay Service Area for three -year terms the following votes were cast: CATHY KNOKE received 6 write -in votes; DAN OGG received 8 write -in votes; and, there were 9 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that CATHY KNOKE and DAN OGG have been elected for three -year seats. THAT for the position of Advisory Board Member for the Womens Bay Service Area for three -year terms the following votes were cast: WAYNE BERRY received 66 votes; and, there were 6 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that WAYNE BERRY has been elected for a three -year seat and one three -year seat is declared vacant. THAT for the position of Advisory Board Member for the Fire Protection District No. 1 for three -year terms the following votes were cast: JOHN SHANK received 329 votes; BILL. SWEARINCIN received 24 write -in votes; and, there were 24 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that JOHN SHANK and BILL SWEARINGIN have been elected for three -year seats. THAT for the position of Advisory Board Member for the Service District No. 1 for three -year terms the following votes were cast: JAMES BERG received 207 votes; NORMAN WOOTEN received 209 votes; and, there was 1 miscellaneous write -in vote cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that JAMES BERG and NORMAN WOOTEN have been elected for three -year seats. THAT for the position of Advisory Board Member for the Service District No. 1 for a two -year term the following votes were cast: OTTO MAHLE received 4 write -in votes; EARL SMITH received 4 write -in votes; LOUIS SCHENIDER received 2 write -in votes; and, there were 6 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, THEREFORE, it is declared that OTTO MAHLE and EARL SMITH will draw rots to determine the winner of this two -year seat. THAT Proposition No. 1 on the question of financial disclosure, Ordinance No. 88 -23 -0, received 550 YES votes and 719 NO votes, THEREFORE, Ordinance No. 88 -23 -0 is defeated. THAT Proposition No. 2 on the question of manager form of govern- ment, initiative Ordinance No. 88 -01 -1, received 533 YES votes and 757 NO votes, THEREFORE, Ordinance No. 88 -01 -1 is defeated.
