1988-35 Pledging up to $100,000 for Removal of the Pier III Shoal.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY PLEDGING UP TO $100,000 FOR REMOVAL OF THE PIER 111 SHOAL. WHEREAS. the shoal in St. Paul Harbor which is about 1100 ft. from Pier I11 is a navigational hazard; and WHEREAS, this shoal is • major problem during docking maneuvers of ships arriving at Pier III; and WHEREAS. Federal funds are available to pay for 55% of the cost of removing the shoal; and WHEREAS. Sea Land Service. Inc. and American President Lines. Ltd.. the two primary commercial carriers which use Pier III, are willing to contribute $100.000 each to the removal of the shoal; and WHEREAS. the City of Kodiak. the owner of Pier III is willing to contribute $100,000 to this r 1 of the shoal. NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough - Assembly pledges up to $100,000 for the removal of this shoal and urges the Alaska Legislature to appropriate $200,000 toward this project.
