1988-33 Directing Preparation of a Petition for Annexation to the Borough of Territory on the Alaskan Peninsula.ATTEST: KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 88 -33 -R By: Mayor Selby Introduced: 5/05/88 Amended: 5/05/88 Adopted: 5 /05/88 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING PREPARATION OF A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION TO THE BOROUGH OF TERRITORY ON THE ALASKA PENINSULA WHEREAS, the people of the Kodiak Island Borough have cultural, economic and political ties to the people and territory of the northeastern portion of the Alaska Peninsula; and WHEREAS, the area is important to the economy of the borough especially the fish resources in state waters, which are heavily fished by Kodiak's fishing fleet; and WHEREAS, Alaska Law provides procedures for considering and effecting boundary changes where it is In the public interest to do so; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that the Mayor is directed to cause a petition for annexation to be prepared and submitted to the Department of Community and Regional Affairs in accordance with 19 AAC 10.185- 10.220. The petition shall propose annexation to the Borough of an area generally described as: All those lands on the Alaska Peninsula that drain into Shelikof Strait and /or the Pacific Ocean extending from the Kenai Peninsula Borough boundary on the north, southwesterly to, and including Kumlik Island, Sutwik Island, on the south and all other islands, rocks, and pinnacles that lie within the named waters south of a line extending from Cape Douglas to the Barren Islands on the north, and north of a line extending from Cape Kumlik to the most southwesterly point on Tugidak.
