1988-08 Adopting Economic Development Policy.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADOPTING AN
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT POLICY.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has established a Kodiak Island
Economic Development Commission to "assist the Mayor and Assembly in developing
• local economy which masts the needs, desires, and goals of the community ";
and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has adopted non- areawlde
powers to provide for economic development; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of Borough residents that the Kodiak
Island Borough continue to be able to encourage private sector economic
development on Kodiak Island.
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly hereby adopts the following as the Economic Development Polley of the
Kodiak Island Borough:
The Economic Development Policy of the Kodiak Island Borough is to promote
the economic environment that supports continuous progress toward, and
maintenance o1, a strong, stable economy on Kodiak Island. Borough
activities should include continuous review and identification of what
economic activities should be maintained and what growth opportunities
are present. thereby providing encouragement to the private sector to
maximize the economic stability and growth on Kodiak Island which results
in full employment, a reasonable level of income, and well managed
utilization of resources.
