RESOLUTION NO. 88 -55 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY TO PURCHASE TRACT
R -1A KILLARNEY HILLS SUBDIVISION FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW
HOSPITAL.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has been seeking to
construct a new hospital for the Kodiak Island Borough, and
WHEREAS, the Certificate of Need for construction of a new hospital
was recommended for approval by the Health Systems Agency in May, 1988, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Mayor was authorized to negotiate
purchase of • hospital site by Resolution Number 85 -82-R, and
WHEREAS, Tract R -1A Killarney Hills Subdivision was one of three
parcels identified as good locations for the new hospital. and
WHEREAS, the other two parcels are not available, and
WHEREAS, the Arctdioc•sa of Anchorage has agreed to sell the land to
the Kodiak Island Borough and convey the land by warranty deed free and clear
of 611 lions and encumbrances except 'summate and restrictions of record, and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has indicated • committm•nt to finance
a substantial portion of the cost of construction of a new hospital.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that the Mayor is directed to purchase Tract R -1A Killarney Hills Subdivision
for the purpose of
construction of a new hospital for an amount not to exceed
6106,000 with funds to be used from the Land Sales Fund for this purchase, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the staff is directed to complete all
necassary documentation and transactions to complete this land acquisiton.
