1986-52 Authorizing a Contract with URS Engineers for Design of a Bridge Across the Creek Between Beaver Lake and Dark Lake.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING
A CONTRACT WITH URS ENGINEERS TO DESIGN A BRIDGE ACROSS THE CREEK
BETWEEN BEAVER LAKE AND DARK LAKE.
WHEREAS, construction of Von Scheele Way in the future development of
Lakeside Subdivision involves crossing the creek between Beaver Lake and Dark Lake,
and
WHEREAS, the original plans called for installation of acorrugated steel pipe
culvert to accomplish this crossing, and
WHEREAS, during the process to obtain a U. S. Army // C,orp s of Engineers wetland
permit, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game has indic,Eed that they will not accept
any form of crossing other than a clear span bridge due t the existing fish rearing
habitat in this creek, and
WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly desires to contract with URS Engineers to have
a preliminary bridge design report prepared to determine the most economical type of
structure for this location, for assistance in pre3aring an application for and obtaining a
Corps of Engineers wetlands permit, and fo&peeparation of final construction plans if
the project is feasible.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that a contract for design services by T URS Engineers is approved as follows:
