A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY URGING THE
(ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO REMOVE THE 3 -LANE CONCEPT ON MARINE
WAY AND CENTER STREET FROM CONSIDERATION, ADD TURN LANE RAISED MERIDIANS AT
THE REZANOFF BRIDGE ENTRANCE AND EXPAND MILL BAY ROAD TO THREE TRAFFIC LANES
I FROM THE "y" TO BENNy BENSON DRIVE.
WHEREAS, the Alaska Department of Transportation has developed a
5 -Year Road Master Plan which includes the concept of turning Marine Way and
Center Street into 3 -lane roadways with no parking, and
WHEREAS, the availability of downtown parking space is already in

high demand and short supply, and
WHEREAS
this concept would greatly reduce the amount of parking
space available, and
11 WHEREAS,
the concept may not have a substantial impact on the
Traffic
i flow on these streets, and
WHEREAS, much needed turn lane raised meridians at the entrance to
the bridge on Rezanof are not included in the plan, and
WHEREAS, the rapidly increasing traffic use of Mill Bay Road
indicates that sound planning should include plans for three lanes of traffic
Ion Mill Bay Road from its intersection with Rezanof Drive at the "Y" to Benny
'Benson Drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly that the Alaska Department of Transportation should remove the
3 -lane concept on Marine Way and Center Street from further consideration in
the final draft of the 5 -Year Road Master Plan and add the turn lane raised
meridians at the Rezanof bridge entrance and expand the Mill Bay Road design
I j to three traffic lanes from the "Y" to Benny Benson Drive in the final draft
of the Road Master Plan.
