1983-66 Urging Passage Of S. 947 To Provide A Breakwater In Dog Bay Harbor At Kodiak, Alaska.n I 1 4 1 0 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION 83 -66 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY URGING PASSAGE OF S. 947 TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT BREAKWATER IN DOG BAY HARBOR AT KODIAK, !ALASKA. WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has just completed a boat harbor in Dog Bay at Kodiak, Alaska, and WHEREAS, a temporary floating breakwater, never intended as a long -term solution to the sea surge, was installed as an expedient to allow the opening of this harbor, and WHEREAS, the temporary floating breakwater does not adequately protect Dog Bay Boat Harbor from the sea surge created by winds caning fran the south and northwest which are prevailing, and WHEREAS, S. 947 a bill introduced in the United States Senate on March 24, 1983, by Mr. James Abdnor to authorize the United States Army Corps of Engineers to construct various projects and improvements to rivers and harbors of the United States, including the construction of a permanent breakwater that (will control the sea surge in Dog Bay at Kodiak, Alaska. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Borough Assembly of Kodiak Island respectfully urges the prompt passage of S. 947 in order to provide the permanent solution /adequate safeguard to vessels moored in Dog Bay Harbor that this breakwater will assure.
