RESOLUTION NO. 83 -54 -R
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 172 AND HOJSE BILL 378 AND'A
ORTION OF HOUSE BILL 304, ALL PERTAINING TO THE "LITTLE DAVIS -BACON ACT"
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 172 has been introduced in the Thirteenth
Legislature, and
WHEREAS, House Bill 378, identical to Senate Bill 172, has also been
'introduced in the Thirteenth Legislature, and
WHEREAS, these bills would repeal Alaska Statute 36.05 relating to
age rates on public construction, known as the "Little Davis -Bacon Act ", and
WHEREAS, House 8111 304 has also been introduced which would provide
hat the state's "Little Davis -Bacon Act" does not apply to public construction
n a municipality with 5,000 or less population, which limitation would preclude
t ts provisions benefiting the Kodiak Island Borough, and
WHEREAS, the cost of public construction has risen faster than the
nflation rate making public construction projet costs prohibitive in many
WHEREAS, one of the major causes pf advancing costs of public con -

truction is the required wage rates of t "Little Davis -Bacon Act ".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLV8G by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
hat Senate Bill 172 and /or House Bi 378 be passed by the Legislators.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED t =t in the event that Senate Bill 172 and
ouse Bill 378 are not passed by he Legislature, House Bill 304 be passed
fter being amended to exempt ''roughs.
AND, BE IT FURTHER ESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to:.
