KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. 83 -21 -R
A RESOLUTION OF KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING THE LEASING
OF OFFICE SPACE IN THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH BUILDING.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is the owner of Lots 5 and 7 of
U. S. Survey 2538A and all the improvements thereon, and
WHEREAS, the main building, a former dormitory, has been converted to
I lan office building of which approximately 76 percent is used for office space
L and the remaining space is common area, and
WHEREAS, the property deed contains a restrictive clause limiting
the property use to school and other public purposes only, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly desires to manage the
property as a self- sustaining enterprise and to meet this goal it is advantageous
to provide for full occupancy by renting the available office space to qualify-
1 ing occupants, giving first priority to school and borough use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
lauthorizes the Borough Manager to negotiate leases with the following govern-
mental and qualifying nonprofit corporations at a cost of $1.00 per square foot:
1. Kodiak Island Borough School District - 6491 sq. ft.
2. Kodiak Island Borough - 8594 sq. ft.
3. City of Kodiak - 3895 sq. ft.
4. KMXT Radio Station - 1413 sq. ft.
5. Kodiak Area Chamber of Commerce - 573 sq. ft.
6. Legislative Affairs - 942 sq. ft.
The terms and conditions of leases shall be these provided in the written
document as prepared and titled Lease Agreement.
