KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. 83 -16 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING INTER
FUND BORROWING FOR THE MONASHKA BAY ROAD SERVICE AREA.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough held a special election on
January 11, 1983 with the proposition "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough Exercise
Road Powers Within the Monashka Road Service Area Including But Not Limited To
Road Design, Construction, Maintenance And Administration For Improvements Of
Public Roads," and
WHEREAS, the results of the election were 36 persons in favor of
establishing a road service district and 7 people voting in opposition, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly did on January 20, 1983
certify the results of the election and appoint the members of the road service
district until the next general election, and
WHEREAS, the service district will not be able to levy a tax until
July 1, 1983 but is anxious to proceed immediately with road maintenance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Borough Manager is authorized
and directed to advance up to $8,000 to accomplish any and all tasks relative to
road design, construction, maintenance and administration for improvement of
public roads in the Monashka Bay Road Service Area. These funds are made
from the General Fund without interest and all such funds will be
restored by the road service district during their first budget year commencing
July 1, 1983.
