1983-13 Seeking Improvements To The Mill Bay Road Project Including A Pedestrian Facility.0 1 n s KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 83 -13 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SEEKING IMPROVEMENTS . THE MILL BAY ROAD PROJECT INCLUDING A PEDESTRIAN FACILITY. WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has prepared plans for upgrading and paving a portion of Mill Bay Road between Cutoff Road and Rezanoff Drive, and WHEREAS, the Mill Bay Road paving project original bid exceeded design estimates and consequently no contract was let, and WHEREAS, the original appropriation for the project totaled $767,000 which is inadequate to fund the project desired by the Kodiak Island Borough, and WHEREAS, the adopted Kodiak Island Borough Capital Improvement Program. for 1983 -88 has identified Mill Bay Road improvement including a pedestrian facility along the corridor as a high priority. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that the administration be directed to advise the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities that the Borough supports Project No. A 80931 and that the Department is requested to redesign the project and develop suitable cost estimates to support a project consisting of a forty - twofoot pavement width in order to accomodate on street parking on each side of the street; curb and gutter on each side of the street in order to control drainage and delineate the road surface; and a sidewalk on the southerly side only as a pedestrian facility. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to: The Honorable Bob Mulcahy, Alaska Senate; The Honorable Fred F. Zharoff, Alaska House of Representatives; The Honorable Mayor Alan Beardsley, City of Kodiak; and James B. Edwards, Transportation Planner, Department of Transporta- tion and Public Facilities and that they be requested to support increased funding for the Mill Bay Road project as described.
