RESOLUTION NO. 83 -06 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY CONCEPTUALLY
APPROVING THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH COASTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN.
WHEREAS, AS 46.40.030 states that coastal resource districts shall
develop and adopt district coastal management programs in accordance with the
provisions of the Alaska Coastal Management Act and the Alaska Coastal
Management Program, Guidelines and Standards, and
WHEREAS, a comprehensive Coastal Management Program has been devel-
oped which recognizes: 1) the coastal area of the Kodiak Island Borough as a
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly this

distinct and valuable natural resource of concern to the people of the Borough;:
2) the demands upon the resources of the coastal area are significant and will
increase in the future; 3) the protection of the natural, cultural and scenic
resources and the fostering of wise development of the coastal area, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Coatal Management Program avoids
the creation of new regulatory structures wherever possible, relying instead
upon existing federal, state and local authorities to implement the provisions
of the Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that the Kodiak Island Borough Coastal Management Program be conceptually
approved and forwarded to the Alaska Coastal Policy Council and Office of
Coastal Management for adoption by the State of Alaska. Upon acceptance by the
State of Alaska, the Borough intends to adopt the Kodiak Island Coastal
Management Program by ordinance within 90 days pursuant to 6 AAC 85.120 (f).
