RESOLUTION NO. 82 -59 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ACCEPTING A GRANT
FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $40,000 FOR
THE LARSEN BAY SANITARY LANDFILL.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has been offered funds by the
State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation, in accordance with
A.S. 46.03.030, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is willing to undertake the
construction of a landfill on behalf of the City of Larsen Bay as authorized
in the State grant offer, and
WHEREAS, the City of Larsen Bay has agreed to accept the responsibility
to operate and maintain the proposed sanitary landfill in accordance with
applicable regulations, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough, as a condition of the grant
approval, agrees to accept the terms and limitations contained in the grant
offer except for the operation and maintenance of the facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough is
hereby authorized to receive and expend funds under the Department of Environ-
mental Conservation's state grant offer in the amount not to exceed $40,000 as
authorized under A.S. 46.03.030 for the Larsen Bay sanitary landfill project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that
the Borough Manager is hereby authorized to prepare and execute appropriate
grant agreements for this project.
