RESOLUTION NO. 82 -58 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING LEASES
OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING COMPLEX LOCATED ON LOT 5, U. S. SURVEY 2538A TO THE
KODIAK AREA NATIVE ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has received from the State of
Alaska Quitclaim Deed No. 376 dated February 8, 1980 conveying to the
Borough lots 5 and 7, U. S. Survey 2538A, and
WHEREAS, this conveyance is subject to the above described property
being used for school or other public purposes only, as well as making the
above described property available to Indians and Non - Indians on the same
terms, and
WHEREAS, Title 18.40.0208 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of
Ordinances provides for negotiating a lease with non- profit corporations at a
reasonable rental, taking into consideration the purpose for which the real
property is to be used, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) qualifies as a
non - profit organization and provides a necessary domicile program for children
from the Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
authorizes a three -year lease to provide a domicile program for children from
the Borough in the one -half of theapartment complex consisting of seven (7)
apartment units. The program is limited to those persons receiving educational
advancement opportunities and those providing the necessary supervision for the
program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Borough staff is hereby authorized to
negotiate the appropriate lease to allay occupancy of the seven apartment units.
