1982-48 Proclaiming July 4 Through 10, 1982 As Muscular Dystrophy Week.1' KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 82 -48 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY PROCLAIMING JULY 4 THROUGH 10, 1982 AS MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY WEEK. WHEREAS, muscular dystrophy is a muscular disease that cripples thousands of Americans, and WHEREAS, the Muscular Dystrophy Association is a nation -wide program to provide free medical service to musclar dystrophy patients and families, and WHEREAS, extensive research is the only channel to find a cure, and WHEREAS, citizens of the Kodiak Island Borough suffering from muscular ,dystrophy benefit from these services and research, and WHEREAS, the U. S. Jaycees, comprising 8,200 local chapters and 320,000 members, has pledged its efforts to find a cure, and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Jaycees are conducting fund raising projects concluding with a dance -a -thon at the Teen Center on July 10, 1982. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. PEOTTER, Deputy Mayor of Kodiak Island Borough do hereby proclaim the week of July 4 through July 10, 1982 as Muscular Dystrophy Week and, further, urge all residents of this community to join in this observance and participate by support, recognition, encouragement, and appreciation for the care and service provided by this ongoing, long term program to aid those afflicted by this disease and their family members.
