RESOLUTION NO. 80 -28 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY THANKING
THE HONORABLE JAY S. HAMMOND, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF ALASKA FOR HIS
COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE.
WHEREAS, the citizens of Kodiak Island Borough have long sought
to have local roads improved with asphalt pavement. And;
WHEREAS, the local medical community has stated that bronchial
illnesses are reduced when roads are paved. And;
WHEREAS, due to the high costs of paving based on Kodiak's
remote location the local residents can not afford to bear all of the costs
associated with road paving. And;
WHEREAS, the Honorable Jay S. Hammond, Governor of the State
of Alaska in response to the pleas of the community assisted the residents of
the Borough by providing funds within the 1980 Alaska State Capital Construc-
tion Budget for pavement of roads. And;
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly wishes to publicly
thank the Governor for his assistance as demonstrated by the pavement that
was placed this week on Spruce Cape Road.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly that the Assembly wished to thank Governor Hammond on behalf of all
Borough residents for his cooperation and assistance in improving our urban
