A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
IENDORSING THE PROPOSAL FOR THE FUNDING OF NEW SCHOOL FACILITIES
AT OHINIAK AND KARLUK, ALASKA .OR CONSIDERATION IN THE 1950 STATE
'LEGISLATIVE SESSION
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough is cognizant of the
need of new school facilities to serve the Chiniak and Karluk,
Alaska school areas, and,
WHEREAS, the school facility at Chiniak will be serving
the Chiniak Job Corps Center after July I, 1980 and wi11 have a
:greatly expanded enrollment, and,
WHEREAS, the facility at Karluk will be serving the needs
of the families of Karluk that were relocated into new housing
,after their original townsite was devastated by storms in December,
1976 and January, 1978, and,
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough urges funding of the
Chiniak and Karluk School facilities by the 1980 State Legislative
'Session.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I_ RESOLVED, that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly recognizes the need for new school facilities in
Chiniak, Alaska and Karluk, Alaska to serve the increasing demands
of the communities and do hereby endorse the funding of these
facilities by the 1980 State Legislative Session.
