RESOLUTION N0. 80 -8 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY APPROVING THE
FINAL SUBDIVISION OF 31 LOTS IN THE PORT LIONS SUBDIVISION, SECOND ADDITIOt1.
(KANA Housing Authority)
WHEREAS, Title 16.12.050 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of
Ordinances and Resolutions provides that a final plat shall be approved by the
Borough Assembly by Resolution which shall provide for the acceptance of all
streets, alleys, easements and other open spaces dedicated to public purpose.
And;
WHEREAS, the final plat was presented for approval by the KANA
Housing Authority. And;
Whereas, the applicant has requested the Borough Assembly grant a
variance from the road construction requirements of Section 16.24.020 8.1. of
'. the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances and approve an alternate road
construction design. And;
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission granted final approval
of said final plat on January 16, 1980.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
grant final approval to the final plat presented by the KANA Housing Authority
and that all streets, alleys, easements and other open spaces on the same plat
I II are hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
I that the alternate road construction design variance is app roved with the
I, attached letter from the Borough Engineer and road construction shall be as
indicated on the design plan and profile prepared by Mr. Gordon Sheret, P.E.,
R.L.S. dated January 10, 1980.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
to authorize the recording of the final plat without first requiring the City
I to complete construction subject to prior execution of an acceptable subdivision
agreement between the Kodiak Island Borough and the Owner.

A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH URGING THE STATE OF ALASKA TO ISSUE
VESSEL LICENSES AND INTERIM USE PERMITS IN KODIAK.
WHEREAS, the Port of Kodiak is one of the leading fishing ports in
the nation, and,
WHEREAS, Kodiak is the home of a large commercial fishing fleet as
indicated by over 1,500 vessels registered in our port during the year, and,
WHEREAS, Kodiak fishermen presently must apply to Juneau for vessel
licenses and interim use permits, and,
WHEREAS, this application process is difficult to accomplish in a
manner, resulting in delays, turmoil, anguish and financial loss.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that the State of Alaska be urged to delegate authority for issuance of vessel
licenses and interim use permits to an appropriate State Agency within the
Kodiak Island Borough.
