A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY OPPOSING.
S AN INCREASE IN THE RAW FISH TAX AND SUPPORTING AN INCREASE IN THE
PER CENT OF REFUND OF PRESENT RAW FISH TAX TO BOROUGH GOVERNMENTS
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Alaska has under
consideration certain legislation relating to fisheries taxes for
!purposes more particularly spelled out in House Bill 306 and related

'legislation, and,
WHEREAS, representatives of the fishing industry have
( l l expressed concern that the fisheries business license and fisheries'
business tax could be detrimental to the further development of the
jfishing industry within Kodiak Island Borough, and,

WHEREAS, existing raw fish tax revenues could be more equi
!! I ltably distributed to assist the boroughs of the State in developing:
fishery- related enhancement projects,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
''Assembly does hereby oppose the proposed increase in the raw fish
!'tax as suggested in House Bill 306 and related legislation, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly does hereby support an increase in the refund of the
existing raw fish tax revenue to borough governments in an amount
equal to 33 -1/3% of the tax collected within the Borough, such
revenues to be utilized for services and facilities as may be
determined by the Assembly.
