A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
AUTHORIZING AN OUTER CONTINENTAL SHELF IMPACT STUDY UPDATE FOR
SHELIKOF STRAIT AND BOTTOMFISH DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL

�Shelf Advisory Council has continued to monitor the constantly

changing circumstances surrounding the Outer Continental Shelf oil
development program and the recent emergence of bottomfish devel-
opment potential, and,
WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Interior, Bureau of
iLand Management, has publicly stated an intent to offer submerged
1lands in the Shelikof Strait for Outer Continental Shelf oil
:development, and,
WHEREAS, the Outer Continental Shelf Advisory Council
l and its member representatives of the fishing industry have indi-
1 sated the strong potential for bottomfish development in the Strait
'and in other waters adjacent to the Kodiak Island Borough, that a
iI need exists to update the Outer Continental Shelf Impact Analysis
to include the Shelikof Strait and for a thorough evaluation of
the bottomfish industry development potential for Kodiak Island
( Borough,

Borough Assembly authorizes the

Ition with the Outer Continental Shelf Advisory Council to develop
I an appropriate Coastal Energy Impact Program grant application or
' other program source to fund an update of the Outer Continental
Shelf Impact Analysis and a bottomfish industrial development
'potential study.
